Utilization of Surplus Heat Project of SINOPEC Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Co. Ltd

Project Background

Yanshan Petrochemical belongs to Sinopec and is one of China's production bases for synthetic rubber, synthetic resin, phenol-acetone and high-quality refined oil. A large amount of process waste heat is generated during the operation of its chemical plants.

Technical Solution

In 2011, for the "Deep Utilization Project of Process Waste Heat of Chemical Plants of Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Co., Ltd.", Beijing Keyuan Ruineng Energy-saving Equipment Co., Ltd. applied the "district heating technology based on absorption cycle" to deeply absorb the process waste heat of Chemical Plant No.1 for building heating, achieving large-scale and resource-oriented utilization of industrial waste heat.

Project Results

After the retrofit, 60MW of waste heat was recovered and 1.2 million square meters of heating area was added, equivalent to saving 25,000 tons of standard coal per year. Calculated with typical coal quality, the recovered waste heat can reduce SO2 emissions by 1,900 tons, CO2 emissions by 63,000 tons, NOx emissions by 97 tons and dust emissions by 17,000 tons per year, delivering good economic and social benefits.
